Excellent food, today I tried the Haystack and the Carrot cake, both are excellent choices - food so good you will forget it's Vegan.

I stopped for lunch last week. I've been wanting to try the restaurant, especially since they have a bevy of vegan options.
Opting for the Reuben, I didn't love it. The "corned beef" was in bits, not a solid sheet of "meat." I'm fine with the fact that perhaps making faux corned beef is an adventure--I don't know, I've never done it.
The menu looked varied and I think I'd go for The Haystack next, which is their vegan nachos and a signature dish, I've been told.
It was Lewiston and I wanted vegan--not too many choices available. That being said, the place was clean and welcoming (back in the day, it was a Pizza Hut). Staff were friendly.
It's a place that if you regularly find yourself searching Yelp of HappyCow (you know who you are) for scare vegan eateries in Maine, you should definitely give it a whirl.
It's a lunch spot (they close at 2:00 or 3:00 most days), so factor that in. -

I arrived in Lewiston, starving. This was the only vegan place I found, but they were closing in about 5 minutes. I called to be sure. The lady was SO nice. I told her where I was located and that I hadn't even looked at the menu. She helped me decide on a meal and said she would have it for me when I arrived - I was so incredibly thankful.
I ordered a "chicken" quesadilla. It was huge for the price, very happy. And yes, it was amazingly delicious. I would go back for that again and again. I wished I had time to try more menu items. I tried the cheesecake which was pretty decent (right consistency). I also got some chocolate/pb squares. These were okay but you could tell they were healthy (if you know what I mean haha). Overall, very happy with this place, the food and the service!!!
** Just a note that I gave my most favorite restaurant of all time 5 stars, so since nothing else really compares, my best ratings are 4 stars :) -

I'm pretty sure everything here is vegan. I didn't see any options with dairy.
I'm a huge fan of vegan food and I am a vegetarian, but I really don't like vegan cheese substitutes. I like when vegan ingredients are showcased for the Whole Foods that they are and not trying to imitate their non-vegan counterparts. The Olive Branch Café didn't exactly hit a home run with this one, but I still liked all the vegan options and the food was fairly tasty.
My husband had the BBQ "Bacon" Burger. I have had much better veggie burgers in my life but he enjoyed it. I had the Reuben sandwich made with a bean loaf. I love a good non-meat Reuben and this had all the right flavors. The textures were a little odd and messy but it still hit the spot.
For dessert we shared a piece of vegan cheesecake. I think it was mostly tofu, not cashews. The first bite is a little odd but it had a great vanilla flavor and became addicting. Again, I have had better but it was good. Just took some getting used to.
The prices are WAY more reasonable than I've found in any other health/vegan cafe. Especially in Portland.
It's a cute cafe and you order your meal at the counter and go sit down at a table and they bring it to you. The staff was extremely nice.
Next time in the Lewiston area, I will be back! -

I'm out from California visiting and I come across this location. I don't think much of it at first until I realize it's a Vegan themed restaurant. It's a bit confusing for me in terms of etiquette whether to be seated first but I was directed by another patron that it's order then seat yourselves. The food was excellent and I would compare it among some of the dining farm-to-table establishments in Sonoma Valley California.
There's not much traffic that seems to go through this place but I would say it's well deserving of some positive recognition.
